What are the best P90X3 supplements to take? This is a question I have been getting a lot here at Sweet Life Fitness on my P90X3 blog. I honestly believe that there are great supplements and supplements you can save your money on. Today I’ll share the top P90X3 supplements that I use everyday for my journey. Below the video I’ll also rank them from most important to least important. Based on the budget you have you can decide which supplements work best for you without getting the wrong mix or wasting money.
The P90X3 Supplements you Ought to Know About
In the below video I share exactly what I use for P90X3 supplements from start to finish. I also talk about a nutrition item that isn’t necessary a supplement, but a great way to get a healthy fat! Check out the video here:
My P90X3 Supplements Ranked – And My Reasoning!
Below are my supplements ranked from high to low. Do I use all of these? Yes, absolutely. But, if you are on a budget, consider just getting the top few, or contacting me and we can chat about what is right for you.
Yes, I do earn income on this site, but I must disclaim that I am NOT trying to get you to buy these things. If you do, great. If you don’t, that is great too – I am sharing value with you based on my own experience.
Shakeology – I drink Shakeology daily (Chocolate and Strawberry are my two most favorite flavors). You can hear more about it in the video above, but it is my daily dose of dense nutrition. More than just protein, more than just a meal replacement: I get the vitamins and supplements that would cost me over $400 to replace at a local vitamin store. This is a must have, and most people who get P90X3 get Shakeology as well. Learn More about Shakeology
Healthy Fats (Almonds/Walnuts) – I know it’s not really a supplement, but I think these are so important! As I mention, you must have all three macro nutrients to be successful in your nutrition journey. Don’t blow off fats for protein or carbs for fats! You need all three. You can get other healthy fats other than just almonds and walnuts (avocados, even olive oil!)
Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein – it is true that protein is very important for us! Especially when you are on a calorie deficit, you need to eat the right amount of protein to avoid losing lean muscle. With our P90X3 Diet plan, we need to hit 30% of our daily calories as protein alone. This is a great way to supplement protein each day. Learn more about Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein.
Energy & Endurance Pre-Workout – this one and Creatine are two that make it tough to rank which one is higher. I will say this however: If you are interesting in building muscle, I would go to Creatine before E&E (if you can’t/don’t want to afford both). E&E is awesome for giving you focus and energy for your workout without a ridiculous jitter. I always feel I can BRING IT harder with E&E down the hatch each day! Learn more about E&E
MAX Creatine – I am a big fan of creatine for building lean muscle. Creatine naturally occurs in the body, but this supplement can help you accelerate your results by funneling necessary nutrients to your muscles through water absorption. Just be sure you drink a LOT of water if you will be taking creatine as this supplement relies on water! Learn more about MAX Creatine
Pure Protein Bars – I like to use these as my “go to snack” during the middle of the day. Instead of lunging for the closest chocolate or nasty candy bar, this satisfies and provides a great source of nutrition. Other alternatives which are good include the P90X Protein Bars or Quest Bars.
P90X Results and Recovery Formula – this formula works great post workout (during the hard workouts like The Challenge, Agility X, and Triometrics). I wouldn’t use it much for X3 Yoga or Dynamix as it might add too many carbs and calories based on your burn for the day. When you do use it, you can add MAX Creatine to this supplement in order to have a great blend of creatine fueled by the carbs to transport to the muscles (creatine is transported to muscles through carbs, which the P90X R&R formula can do!). Is it absolutely necessary to use supplements to achieve results on the program or can I just track my calories and macros with myfitnesspal and get all my macros from whole foods? I would prefer to do that if possible.
SweetLifeCoach says
KeeleyShobbrook Yes of course that is possible to do. Supplements can help the process to be absolutely honest; however, it is not absolutely required. If you can hit those macros spot on with whole foods (protein/carbs/fats) you are in a great place for sure. Thanks a bunch for stopping by and keep me posted on your progress, and if you have any other questions!

I just started P90X3 ..my body fat is 20%..I’m looking to lose fats and BUILD muscles..do I have to take all these supplements with my P90x3 workouts ?
SweetLifeCoach says
MoaawiaAmhan Thanks for stopping by! You don’t necessarily need to take all of the supplements for the goal of losing fat and building muscle. Ideally once you hit 8-10% body fat you’ll see all of your hard work pay off beautifully. My suggestions are things like a solid Protein Shake (as I share above), Max Creatine, and Shakeology.
Keep me posted on your P90X3 journey!!

If i just use whey protein, and a multivitamin would that be fine to start with? Im looking to shoot for a Bruce Lee body type look. What program would you suggest me follow to achieve that, the classic or lean program on p90x3?
SweetLifeCoach says
@Jomoe Great goal of achieving the Bruce Lee body! I would recommend the classic version and yes the whey and multivitamin is a good starting point. If you feel you are lacking in certain areas you can always scale up later (and by later I mean, give it at least 2-3 months).

Back story: I am a former marine, and in turn I have lost my USMC body (178lbs. less than 9% fat). I had a wake up call last night when I weighed myself, randomly. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 187 pounds. I am wanting to pursue a career in law enforcement, but need to get into shape quickly to begin that pursuit.
My question is, if I begin my P90x3 training tomorrow (as I plan to), will this regimen of supplements listed above help me maximize in a quicker time frame? I am looking to take the physical exam for entry into the academy within the next 60 days, and to put it lightly, I would not pass it today.
SweetLifeCoach says
ErickFinkiewicz Hey thanks for stopping by Erick. The supplements above can help, and combining that with a bit of a calorie deficit will serve you well in getting back into USMC mode. What is your current Body Fat %? You might want to take something like the X3 nutrition guide and adjust it down a bit dependent on the 60 day time frame you have (http://sweetlifefitness.net/p90x3-nutrition-guide/)

Hi, I want to start this program but I don’t know what order to take all those supplements daily. Can you tell me which to take on workout days and which supplements to take on rest days?? I’m female, 128lb I plan to do mass p90x
SweetLifeCoach says
Hetgirl I would take the ones I list above for workout days. Now as for rest days what I do is Shakeology and the healthy fats. Also, the second tier to supplements is the proper nutrition, which I track thru MyFitnessPal (check that info out: http://sweetlifefitness.net/how-to-use-myfitnesspal/
