Here is MY little health hero, my daughter Mackenzie. (2014 at Walt Disney World)
The American Recall Center recently reached out to me as a fellow fitness blogger to discuss my inspiration for who keeps me healthy. While my community, coaches, team members, and readers keep me motivated and healthy, I really do have a Health Hero that drives me daily. When ARC reached out to me, I really took some time to think about my Health Hero – and I’m excited to share it with all of you.
My Little Health Hero – My Daughter – The Back-story
The set of the sail started in 2010. I decided to start getting healthy after realizing I was overweight (and borderline obese). I had issues where I had to call 911 one evening for chest pains (luckily with no transportation to the hospital, but a surefire wake-up call).
I started P90X on June 21st, 2010. But the true start to my fitness-dedicated lifestyle started in June 2011 during the birth of my first child. She literally changed me in many ways. I felt a new level of responsibility, and wanted to spend more time with her!
I spent time focused on staying healthy and working my fitness business with focus to earn enough income to eventually work from home and inspire her life. ME, a 20-something workaholic wanted to focus on the family!?
Why such a change of direction in my life?
Because I realized I wasn’t just living for myself and my wife anymore. I had a responsibility, and a new love that you can’t explain.

My Dad – An integral part of my health and fitness inspiration.
When I was only 10 years old, I lost my father during his battle with colon cancer. While my father wasn’t obese or out of shape, tracing back in history I can imagine that his eating choices weren’t always the best for him.
Not growing up with a father was tough. That is why I want to do everything in my power and within God’s plan to help stay healthy for my Health Hero (my daughter) and my Health Inspiration (my father).
A Health Hero Inspires a Lifestyle
My little health hero has done more for me than just kept me committed to losing weight. I live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. What makes this fulfilling is in knowing that I am staying healthy for her, and helping to inspire my readers, friends, and followers to make a difference in their lives as well.
Sometimes your “WHY”, or rather, your Health Hero, needs to be BIGGER than you. It needs to give you that fire in the stomach to never quit; to never stop; to never cease being AMAZING.
